Hello and welcome to another addition of Con Brio Online (The Latest News for the City of Burnie Brass Band). As usual this page endeavours to keep you up to date with the latest goings on with the band, so be sure to check it out now and again to make sure you are up to date. In addition Band Members should check out the White boards in the band room for upcoming playouts and events.

On August 22 the band held its Annual Presentation luncheon. As usual, a number of awards were presented to various band members for their achievements over the last 12 months. Congratulations must go to the following people for their awards.

Andrea Schmuck's Afghan Role

Back on July 12, the Advocate published an article headlined 'Special Afghan Role - Former Burnie woman plays bugle as tribute' which was dedicated to former CBBB member Andrea Schmuck and her current role in the Australian Defence Force where she works in logistics and is the resident bugler. Around this time she had the sad but honourable duty of playing The Last Post at a ceremony in Tarin Kowt for Private Nathan Bewes (23) who was sadly killed in action a week or so earlier. The article also talked of how Andrea has played The Last Post on the bugle for many years at various ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day services.

Andrea was introduced to the band at the age of 10 and was Junior Bands Person of the year in 1984. She remained with the band until she joined the army.
