A large turn out is expected at the Cenetaph located within the Burnie Park at 1:00PM on Tuesday March 31st for the official commisioning of a new structure that will act as a memorial to fallen soldiers from our region who have died in various conflicts including Galipoli and wars in Iraq. The first name on the memorial will be that of Corporal Cameron Baird who will be honoured at the ceromony. The band shall be present to play music at the event.

The band wishes to pay tribute to the late Kevin Barry who passed away on January 7th, 2015 from injuries sustained in a car accident. Kevin was highly active in the band during the 1970s through to the early 1990s. He was the conductor of the Learners band in the late 1980s as well as being an award winning Drum Major. He was the Bands Person of the Year in both 1973 and 1981. Kevin was a highly skilled Percussionist and taught many people to play Drums including Myself (the Web Site Administrator). The band wishes all the best for his surviving wife Kathy and her continued rehabilitation from the accident. Kevin also had a number of children who were involved with the band and we wish to express our condolences to each of them. There will soon be a permanent Tribute to Kevin in the Archives section of this web site.
