The band has now had its last rehearsal for the year and will resume practice again on Tuesday, January 17th at the usual time. Our break will be interrupted briefly on December 31st for the New Years Eve Sports Carnival. Some band members my also be involved with volunteering with the Rhododendron Gardens to look after Cruise ship visitors in the intervening period. All that said, it now simply falls on me to whish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Annual Dinner & Presentation Evening

On the Tuesday evening of November 29th, 2022 at 7:00PM, the band had its Annual Dinner and Presentation evening. A number of awards were handed out and honors bestowed on the worthy. Among those awards were the Band Masters Trophy for myself, Life Membership for my mother (Margaret Harrison) and the Competitors Award for Michael Bousfield. Also honors were bestowed on Councilors Alwyn Boyde (our long time Patron) and Themba Bulle for their help in championing the bands cause during recent sagas involving the proposed new band premises.

It was significant that this event was most likely the last major event to be held in these bandrooms and this played a big part in the nights awards. Most significantly was the awarding of the Bands Person of the Year to no less than 4 people together, who all played a pivotal part in fighting to secure suitable new premises for the band as we prepare to vacate our long time home in the relatively near future. They were Kathleen Matthews, Wayne Richards, Nathan Wells and Rebecca Wells.

Annual General Meeting

On the Tuesday evening of September 20th, 2022 at appoximately 8:00PM, the band held its Annual General Meeting.Various issues were discussed and Office Bearers presented their annual reports.Office Bearers were also nominated for their positions and after acceptance of their nominations, were elected accordingly.
