There has been unprecedented dissruptions to events and lives all around the world due to the Corona virus pandemic. Things are no different here on the North West Coast of Tasmania. The CBBB has temporarily suspended rehearsals until at least some time after Easter in an effort to protect people from the likelihood of possible exposure to Covid-19. In the world of brass banding, we have already seen the cancelation of the National Band Championships. You would also not be surprised to see that a couple of our usual annual playouts have already been cancelled. They include ANZAC Day and the 2020 Burnie Eisteddfod. In the last 2 years there has been heavy involvement with playing music for The Northwest Thunder basketball teams home games. However there is also a shadow of doubt over the NBL 1 competition this year due to the virus. Hence you will notice that there are no playouts listed at all in the Upcoming Events and Engagements table.

Having said all that, it now simply falls upon me to wish you all good health and a sincere hope that in the weeks/months to come, everything will get back to normal as the world recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic.

On behalf of the band I would like to pay tribute to a couple of friends of the band who have sadly both passed away in recent days. Tom Langston and John Duncan were much admired and highly respected figures in Burnie's music community. To read more about them, click on their photos and link to the tribute articles for them in the Advocate Newspaper.

Well folks, believe it or not, it's been 10 years since I first put this website toghether. There has been the odd drama over the years in keeping http://cityofburniebrassband.com online due to the unreliabilty of web host services from time to time, but for the most part, it's been up and running and has been joined by Rebecca Lusted Wells 'City of Burnie Brass Band facebook site' to bolster our social media presence. It is a strange time to be celebrating the tenth birthday in the midst of the COVID-19 epidemic, but life goes on, as do the plans for a possible new bandroom. The talks with the Burnie council on its design go on, as the plans to expand the Cradle Coast University campus (that will require the land that the current band rooms sit on) come to fruition. So with all that said, it's a big HAPPY 10th BIRTHDAY to http://cityofburniebrassband.com
